Three Families Share Their Stories
When considering a new community to call home, there are many attractive reasons for choosing The Woodlands Hills, an award-winning master planned community. From stellar amenities and forest open spaces to quality homebuilders and connections with neighbors, there is so much to appreciate living here.
Three families share why they love living in The Woodlands Hills. Here are their stories:
Courtney and Rob Theriot
Courtney and Rob first met as co-workers with Southwest Airlines. After getting engaged, they selected a new inventory-ready home, built by Westin Homes in The Woodlands Hills. Once settled, they often toured the beautifully designed and decorated model homes in The Woodlands Hills, which inspired them to build another new home, this time from the ground up. They looked at the larger homesites available in The Woodlands Hills and chose a larger lot that backs to a forested area, adjacent to Stewart Creek and a green belt.
“When you build a new home, you get to choose everything from the ground up, which has been an incredible experience for us. Most importantly, we were able to select the lot which was a huge opportunity for us,” said Rob Theriot.
Soon after their new home by Perry Homes was completed, Courtney and Rob married, officiated by their neighbor who became ordained to carry out the nuptials. The Theriots held their wedding reception at The Woodlands Hills Activity Center utilizing its indoor and outdoor space. Residents enjoy the opportunity to rent the Activity Center out for their private events. Other neighbors helped with the wedding as well, from providing décor and centerpieces to DJ music and custom imprinted koozies.
Rob is fond of the open-air feeling of The Woodlands Hills. “You feel like you’re out in the country here, but not disconnected by acreage. You’re still close to stores and have easy access to the freeway.”
With all the health and wellness-inspired amenities in The Woodlands Hills, the Theriots are big fans of the state-of-the-art fitness center, located at The Woodlands Hills Activity Center, and the miles of nature trails. “The gym here is very comprehensive and offers so many ways to get in a complete workout,” said Courtney Theriot. “We also love the natural, wooded trails. During the weekends we get out on our bikes or go for a walk. Our hound dog is happiest when he comes with us on the trails.”
Courtney takes advantage of all the award-winning lifestyle activities. The community offers various groups and activities including Mommy groups, dice games, bingo, bunko, card games, concerts, cooking classes, family events, movies and more for residents to enjoy. The Theriots especially enjoy neighbor outings like “Bowling & Sushi” and playing pickleball with a casual neighbor dinner afterwards at a rotating host’s house. Like many neighbors, they have a golf cart and have participated in decorated golf cart parades during the holidays to have fun and celebrate.
“Living here, we definitely feel way more of a sense of community,” Courtney explained. “When I lived in the city previously, I honestly couldn’t tell you the names of my neighbors. Here, you can feel assured that you can call on a neighbor to check on your house if you are out of town. We borrow a cup of sugar from each other, just like family. That’s what we do for each other because we take pride in our community here.”
Andrea and Tony Diaz
Andrea and Tony Diaz and their blended family of six kids bought a new home in The Woodlands Hills in 2021 as they relocated from California. Tony is retired from a career in law enforcement, and Andrea is devoted to home-schooling her younger children and volunteering at church.
“We were impressed with the incredible section of homebuilders here. It was so different from California, not to mention the affordability. The plan we chose from Ravenna Homes offered us the options to build exactly what we wanted, and their team was great to work with on selecting a new home,” said Andrea Diaz. “Buying brand new is the best! We are not taking on home projects that come with the territory of a pre-owned older home. That’s not for us. New, updated homes are energy efficient and come with convenient smart home technology such as lights and security, which made a lot of sense to us. Plus, our new home came with a two-year warranty which gave us peace of mind.”
Andrea continued, “We love the gym, and the pool offers a variety of fun activities for the kids. My husband and I like to swim laps in the fitness pool. We’ve been able to take advantage of the Activity Center, too. Our son and daughter-in-law got married there, and we hosted our daughter’s high school graduation party there, too. The Activity Center is such a welcoming venue and feels like an extension of your own home.”
“We’ve really valued the connections and friendships we’ve formed with our neighbors. This is something that was not experienced in California. Here, we’ve held barbeques to get to know each other a little better. Now, we check on each other and do things for each other.”
Savannah & Nathan Taylor
Savannah and Nathan Taylor moved to The Woodlands Hills in 2018, and she began working here as a Realtor® in 2020. Previously, they were living in Montgomery. “We had a young daughter at the time and were planning to have another child, so we wanted our family to live in a community where friends could easily be made,” said Savannah Taylor. “On our first day living in The Woodlands Hills, my daughter immediately made a friend while playing at the sprayground!”
Savannah and her husband chose a new home plan by Brightland Homes. Updated energy efficient floorplans with open and usable space were important to the Taylors.
Today, their family also includes a newborn girl. Among their favorite amenities in The Woodlands Hills is the resort-style pool with all its diverse features such as the lazy river and rock-climbing wall. The forested parks, only a moments’ walk from every home, are a big hit, too, with the family enjoying the vibrant climbing features and play structure amenities at Peacock Park the best.
“As a resident Realtor, I am lucky enough to work where I live. My clients have become my neighbors and have turned into friends. This amazing community gives us a special opportunity to live close enough to watch their families grow and share our walks of life together,”
Savannah shared. “Community isn’t just built by your address; it is also about who you are surrounded by. This community has become our home. We are lucky to live in such a great community, not just because of the amenities but also because of the people who make the community.”
The Woodlands Hills showcases nine locally and nationally recognized quality homebuilders which offer a selection of one-story, one-and-a-half-story, and two-story homes priced from the upper $200s on low maintenance homesites up to spacious 75-foot homesites.
