This time of year can get a little hectic with holiday preparations, shopping and growing to-do lists. We’ve compiled a list of things to do with family and friends near The Woodlands Hills to help slow things down a bit. Taking time to purposefully spend a day with those close to you can help make this time of year more memorable. Below you’ll find a myriad of activities to do between now and the end of December, and all no more than an hour from The Woodlands Hills.

Open year-round

A nearby destination for family fun is 7-Acre Wood located at 4401 N. Frazier Street in Conroe. Their pumpkin patch is open through October. There’s lots of old fashioned family fun with activities like a petting zoo and mini golf. $10 admission.

The Learning Zoo located at 15428 Delores Lane in Conroe, this fun and educational experience is like taking a safari without having to travel too far. They offer special times for toddlers, mommy and me and homeschoolers.

Texas Tree Ventures located at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive in The Woodlands offers an exhilarating outdoor experience. An aerial obstacle course among the trees offers varying degrees of challenge and will have you feeling strong, confident and inspired.

Go hiking, biking and camping in Sam Houston National Forest. Located at 8096 FM 2782 Nacogdoches, Texas. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen and bug spray.

October 24, 25, 31 and November 1

For those who enjoy the scary side of Halloween, you’ll find your haunt less than an hour’s drive to Tomball, Texas. Nightmarez Haunted House located at 19210 Nasworthy Drive offers plenty of ghoul and scare – all for free!

Ongoing through November 2

Another fall festival that’s close to home is P-6 Farms.  You’ll find a cornucopia of traditional fall entertainment including a pumpkin patch, corn maze, vintage rides and more. 9963 Pooles Road in Montgomery, Texas. Purchase tickets only online.

Just a short 45-minute drive south brings you to the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm at 7632 Spring Cypress Road in Spring, Texas. Here you’ll find fun things to do during the fall as well as during the Christmas season. Fall attractions and pumpkin patch require an entry fee and take place Thursday to Sunday until November 2. Cut your own Christmas tree until December 19. Entry is free, but holiday activities vary.

November 8

Right in your own backyard, so to speak, is the yearly tradition of Harvest in The Hills. Since 2019, it’s one of the community’s most favorite outdoor gatherings. The day-long event beckons neighbors, friends and guests to enjoy the outdoors while celebrating the fall season. Sponsored by developer Howard Hughes Communities, attendees will enjoy a petting zoo, train rides, music, strolling entertainment and many other fall-inspired activities – all while having the opportunity to explore 14 lavishly decorated model homes. Those completing a Model Home Tour Card will be entered to win the grand prize.

Through November

About an hour’s drive west brings you to the Texas Renaissance Festival. Featuring many themed weekends between now and the end of November, you and your family will enjoy the merriment of a time gone by. Tickets available online and at the gate. Preferred parking tickets also available. 21778 Farm to Market 1774 in Todd Mission, Texas.

The entire family will enjoy the production of the Addams Family Musical  now through November 2, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever takes place December 5-21 at the Crighton Theater in Conroe. The Christian Youth Theater performs Elf on November 7-16. Tickets for all performances are $24-$36.
