Students in The Woodlands Hills attend Willis ISD schools, specifically Meador Elementary, Brabham Middle School and Willis High School.

The Howard Hughes Corporation encouraged students to participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Hero Squad initiative aimed to raise money in support of LLS to fight blood cancers. Howard Hughes hosted a friendly competition among Meador Elementary and Brabham Middle School to encourage students to raise money for LLS and be part of the Hero Squad. The  winning class of the fundraiser received a pizza party and a special treat –  cupcakes from Rustika Bakery.

Mrs. Shoffner’s 1st grade class at Meador Elementary raised $435 to support LLS.

LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The mission of  LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

“We are excited to raise awareness and garner support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the students at Willis ISD,” said Heath Melton, Executive Vice President, MPC, Residential for Howard Hughes. “We congratulate the students for their efforts in contributing to finding a cure for blood cancer, and we were happy to reward the students from the winning class with a pizza party.”

Heath Melton is the #1 Executive Challenge Fundraiser for LLS in the nation, raising over $258,000 in 2020 for the nonprofit organization.

Over the past five years, Melton has raised over $600,000 while Howard Hughes has raised over $1 million for LLS.
