Nothing says Americana like a summer block party. Turn that block party into a Fourth of July celebration and communities unite. Adding a parade and all the traditional food and games that have been enjoyed for generations ignites the shared experience of being American and celebrating all that her promise of freedom represents, most especially on the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding.

In 2016, Congress established a commission comprised of private citizens and representatives from all three branches of the federal government, including its independent agencies, to plan the celebration of this significant milestone in American history. The result was aptly named America250.

For two days, July 3 and 4, communities across the nation united in celebrating our nation’s most defining moment. Registered as an official block party through America250, The Woodlands Hills annual Fourth of July celebration took place on July 3. Along with numerous towns and cities across the country who simultaneously celebrated our nation’s founding, The Woodlands Hills joined this collective experience to be part of the largest Fourth of July Celebration in history! The America250 website cites thousands of official block parties across America that celebrated in unison over the two days.

HOT DOGS, APPLE PIE AND GOLF CARTS

Friends, families, neighbors and countrymen imbibed with patriotic spirit enjoyed an afternoon of fun at Founders Park and pool. A water slide, a slip-n-slide and a dunking booth provided fun, nostalgic ways to keep cool. Bungee jumpers added a thrilling experience, while additional games, face painters and a train ride for the kids provided a day for residents to get to know new neighbors and reconnect with familiar faces. DJ Jazzy Jarred kept the vinyl spinning, inviting everyone to clap their hands, tap their toes, and dance like no one was watching! Local vendors attended, offering a variety of food trucks and plenty of America’s favorite summertime foods to eat.
